Adaptive optics, known from atronomical telescopes, is also very useful in light microscopy. Sharing the same task - realtime correction of a constantly changing refractive index - adaptive optics increase the resolution of biological images. In this project, a technique to use the adaptive optics in fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) will be developed. This will lead to more accurate binding studies inside biological cells.
